Pioneer
Construction (Pioneer) is a privately owned company formed in 1938. Its
head office is located in Sudbury, Ontario, and the majority of its
work has been performed in Northern Ontario. In its 61-year history,
Pioneer has carried out road construction work ranging from bush and
access roads for private customers, to mid-size projects for all levels
of Municipal government, to multi-million dollar highway construction
projects for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO). Pioneer
has been involved with the mining industry in the construction and
rehabilitation of dams, the construction and maintenance of roadways,
the complete design and operation of open pit mines and the production
of custom aggregate and asphalt products for both above and
below-surface applications. Pioneer Construction has performed summer
and winter maintenance activities (including snowplowing
and sanding/salting) for local municipalities for more than 25 years,
and currently holds four Area Maintenanance
contracts in the North Bay area. We also provide winter maintenance
services for numerous local businesses and shopping malls.
Additionally, Pioneer has also dealt with railroad applications, power
projects, lagoons, airports, subdivisions, rock excavation and
trenching, swamp excavation, and dam membrane installation.
Pioneer's
extensive experience has seen it deal with the following valued
customers: The Ontario Ministries of Transportation, Natural Resources,
and the Environment, The City of Greater Sudbury, Inco, Falconbridge, Noranda Minerals, Rio Algom,
Denison Mines, Canadian Pacific Ltd., C.N. Rail, Ontario Hydro, Sudbury
Hydro, and Domtar (formerly Eddy Forest Products, to name a few. To
